Introduction

UNICEF has recently launched a new initiative called GIGA that aims to connect every school to the Internet, and every young person to information, opportunity and choice. The first pillar of this initiative consists of mapping schools - and their connectivity level - around the world and use this to understand gaps in connectivity and aggregate demand for connectivity.

UNICEF has therefore built a platform that ingests, stores and visualizes this data in real-time (https://projectconnect.unicef.org/). The platform does not only serve to understand where connectivity is needed, but also to monitor progress over time.
